For complete breathability and greater longevity, we suggest that the wool mattress is placed on a wood slatted frame. The mattress is most comfortable in combination with our snuggle mate topper. We also recommend the latex padded slats for those who prefer a softer bed. Our 5" wool mattress consists of 10 layers of our thick wool batting and is covered with a certified Organic wool textile. It will compress about 10% during the first 6 months of use, so we recommend sleeping all over the mattress and rotating it on a regular basis. With proper care, this mattress will last for several decades. We can refurbish mattresses after 10, 20 or 30 years upon request.
